Italian animation studio, Rainbow will be putting in $25 million into its Singapore-based unit to create a virtual world based on the Winx Club franchise (you might be familiar with its recently released film). This marks the biggest investment in Singapore’s history so far in this sector, and the studio expects to expand up to 100 staff members by 2011. It currently has 12 under its wings at its Smith Street studio, half of which are Singaporeans.

The Singapore Indie Doc Festival is back and will be held in March next year. The annual event, now in its third year, is a film festival dedicated to documentaries made by filmmakers from around the world.

The recent 3DX film and entertainment technology festival has just wrapped, and with good news: the local government has aims to set up a $10 million fund to help the development of the 3D film industry, as announced by Lee Boon Yang, minister for the Information, Communication and the Arts.
