THE 24th Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF), which was pushed back five months from its usual April run, finally kicks off today.

Movie buffs can now weigh in on whether the event was truly worth the wait.

This year’s cinematic extravaganza, which debuted here in 1987, will screen 144 feature films over 11 days until Sept25.

They are divided into categories such as The Best Medicine (for comedic films) and Reality Bites (documen- taries).

There is also a special Bertrand Tavernier Retrospective, which showcases the revered French director’s oeuvre, from his 1974 debut, The Clockmaker Of St. Paul, to the 2010 costume drama The Princess Of Montpensier.

The appearance of celebrities like Ryan Kwanten and Josh Radnor – who star in HBO vampire series True Blood and sitcom How I Met Your Mother, respectively – is sure to sweeten the deal, too. my paper picks out some of the movies you shouldn’t miss.
