The latest installment of the Transformers movie series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, is heavy on visual effects, some of which were worked on right here in Singapore.

Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Singapore, worked alongside ILM in the United States to produce the world class visual effects seen in the movie. Singapore based digital artists were trained to use Autodesk’s industry-leading 3D Digital Entertainment Creation software, such as Autodesk Maya.

After filming had wrapped up, it took the team in Singapore 12 months to to work on 19 out of 36 sequences created by ILM, and worked on 235 out of 576 shots. Out of 156 individuals in the local team, 30 per cent were Singaporeans.

The box office hit plays a significant role in ILM Singapore’s history, as the Transformers was the first project the Singapore studio worked on, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the largest production to date.
