The figure was considered shocking, since at that time, ticket prices were between RM2.50 and RM5.
The record was only erased in 2001, when Aziz M. Osman’s Lagi-Lagi Senario collected RM6.3 million.
Today, Yusof’s son, Syamsul has created history when his film, KL Gangster touched RM8 million in seven days!
The action thriller also erased Kongsi’s two week old record for the highest opening day collection for a local film.
KL Gangster made RM1.5 million on its first day, beating Kongsi’s RM1.1 million and matching the first day collection of Transformers 2. Transformers 2 is the highest grossing film in Malaysia at RM26 million.
KL Gangster also broke Kongsi’s RM5 million four-day collection. KL Gangster made RM6.2 million!
