Ban ‘Dum Maro Dum’, Rajya Sabha MP tells Ambika Soni

In a letter to Union minister for information and broadcasting Ambika Soni, Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik has requested the central government to suspend the exhibition of the Hindi feature film, ‘Dum Maro Dum’, under Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act 1952.

The film, produced by Ramesh Sippy and directed by Rohan Sippy, is scheduled to be released all over the country, including Goa, on April 22.

Naik said that the Hindi film contains certain dialogues and scenes which denigrate women in general, and Goan women in particular.

Stating that the film also shows the state of Goa in a bad light, Naik said the film should not have been permitted by the central board of film certification.
