Sales Double for Tamahori, Bengali1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteIcon Film Distribution has acquired rights for Australia and New Zealand to The Devil’s Double, a biopic of the man who was the body double of Saddam Hussain.
The film was directed by New Zealand’s Lee Tamahori, whose Once Were Warriors Icon previously released.
The deal emerged at the Sundance festival. The film is represented by Belgium’s Corsan World Sales. It screens next in the Panorama section of next month’s Berlin festival.
Also announced at Sundance was an unusual remake deal for The Bengali Detective. Fox Searchlight bought the documentary for remake as a fiction film. The UK-made documentary was directed by Philip Cox and produced by Native Voices with finance from Channel 4’s Britdoc fund.
