Thai PM urged to deliver on location incentives
Earlier this month Thailand’s prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva ago spent three quarters of an hour on the set of Legendary Pictures’ The Hangover 2 in Bangkok.
But, as far as its ability to attract incoming foreign film shoots, the Thai film industry appears not to know whether it is coming or going.
Recently published data from the Thailand Film Office show the number of foreign film shoots edging ahead from 496 in 2009 to 533 in 2010.
But at the same time Film Office director Wanasiri Morakul warns that Thailand is losing its competitiveness due to the strong currency and a lack of film-specific financial incentives.
