Sydney’s 14th Japanese Film Festival opened last night with Yoji Yamada’s “About her Brother” at the George Street cinemas.

The Japanese Film Festival runs in Sydney from 22 ““ 28 November at Event Cinemas, George St.

“From a modest audience of around 500 at the first festival, this popular event has grown into a staple of the arts calendar with a projected audience of up to 10,000 this year,” said the NSW Minister for the Arts, Ms Judge said.

“Whether they reflect the Japanese love of beauty in all things, or present a more challenging experience, all of the 22 films in the festival offer a fascinating insight into a richly nuanced culture,” said Ms Judge.
