The new Panasonic P2 Contents Management Software (v1.2 for windows, v1.3 for mac) now supports the AVC-Intra codec, and has a function which allows your footage to be converted into the popular DPX (digital picture exchange) format for digital film work.

p2cms.jpgAccording to the release notes, this new CMS has the P2 viewer built in, plus the ability to backup footages from your P2 cards into external drives and optical media automatically.

Asset management is also easier with the ability to categorise, with metadata managed and categorised by tree. Metadata registered in your P2 card can also be edited via the CMS.

Separate from back up is the archive function, which copies P2 contents onto other storage devices and automatically deletes the MXF files from the hard drive after copying over.
