Started in Europe nine years ago, 2011 marks the debut of the shnit International Shortfilmfestival in Asia, and it’s right here on our tiny red dot of an island-city: Singapore!

Featuring some of the best short films from all around the globe, this year’s shnit Open Competition gives you the opportunity to travel the world without ever leaving your cinema seat. With 80 short films from nearly 30 countries, who needs to buy a plane ticket?

But if you’re aching for something local, fear not because Singapore films have not been left out. Sinema Showoff! ROJAK, a spinoff of the popular SinemaShowoff! short film programme will showcase a selection of specially curated local shorts, complete with post-screening director’s Q&A session on Fri, 7 Oct 2011. This programme is included as part of the shnit – OUT OF CURIOSITY segment. The session will be moderated by Ramasamy Rajesree, Guest Curator ““ Sinema Showoff! Series.

From Europe to South America, and for it’s first time in Asia, Singapore is privileged to be able to screen these films alongside with other participating countries such as Cape Town, Cologne and Vienna! The shnit International Shortfilmfestival promises to entice, tantalize, and excite viewers with the best of short films from the world.

Final winners to the Open Competition will be announced on www.shnit.org on 9 Oct.
