Rotterdam offers wuxia experience
The 40th International Film Festival Rotterdam will host a special tribute of costumed martial arts films of the wuxia genre.
Curator Hsieh Chinlin states that the season is intended to “provide an overview of the development of the wuxia from its beginning in cinema.”
It will also “emphasize the lineage of wuxia, by means of an interactive installation.” The wuxia season is financially supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and Taiwan’s Council for Cultural Affairs.
The season will consist of 20 films to be announced in January, that will include Su Chao-pin’s Reign of Assassins, Wong Kar-wai’s Ashes of Time Redux and Raymond Lee’s New Dragon Inn.
