LASALLE College of the Arts Introduces New Short Courses in Photography, Video Storytelling, and More2 min read

The LASALLE College of the Arts has announced its slew of new short courses for its Continuing Education Programme, further bolstering the wide variety of skills and hobbies relevant to the arts covered which includes charcoal drawing, creative design, creative writing, fashion design and dance.

The new short courses introduced are:

The programme welcomes both beginners and non-arts professionals who are keen to develop a personal interest in the arts. Many of these courses, set to be launched in September 2021, are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit and National Silver Academy subsidy. Most of the programme’s long-running short courses are now open for registrations for runs that start later in the year.

Those with an interest in filmmaking can try their hand at the craft with the new Video Storytelling and Video Editing with DaVinci: An Introduction short courses.

The Video Storytelling course, to be held every Friday and Saturday from 1 – 16 October 2021 over six classes, will take participants through the basic steps of how to plan a story, pick locations, use basic video equipment and then edit your work into a story. Hands-on experience will include class visits to select locations, where participants will plan a story and shoot a video with basic video cameras (including smartphones) and equipment. The course will then take participants through the editing process, running through the proper flow, music and show to showcase their narrative to an audience. Held every Tuesday evening from 5 October to 23 November 2021 across 8 classes, participants of the Video Editing with DaVinci: An Introduction course will provide insights into basic video editing skills with the DaVinci Resolve software. Combining both film editing theory and technique with video editing, non-linear video editing (NLE) software, participants will learn to edit videos from various sources and create short 1 -2 minute creative video montages.
