Upcoming Lunar New Year Comedy ‘Reunion Dinner’《团圆饭》 Announces Stellar Local Cast2 min read

Presented by Clover Films and iQIYI, local Lunar New Year comedy Reunion Dinner《团圆饭》, helmed by writer-director Ong Kuo Sin, has announced its local cast members. The movie will feature Beijing-based Singaporean actor Lawrence Wong, multifaceted actor-comedian Mark Lee and established Mediacorp artiste Xiang Yun.

Reunion Dinner follows the story of a soon-to-wed couple who are officially meeting each other’s families for the first time over the Lunar New Year. A series of mishaps ensue and they soon uncover the secrets they have both been keeping, will the couple be able to reconcile their differences?

Lawrence Wong, as the male lead, plays a charming creative director of an advertising firm while Xiang Yun plays the role of his mother. Mark Lee plays a close family friend in a comical role that we have come to expect from Singapore’s king of comedy. More cast members, including the female lead, will be announced at a later date.

This is in line with our mission to showcase top Singapore talent in Reunion Dinner. With them on board, we believe Reunion Dinner will be a resounding success in both our region and in China!” says Mr Lim Teck, Managing Director of Clover Films.

Director Ong Kuo Sin added, “I am very excited and look forward to a wonderful reunion with Lawrence. It has been close to 10 years since we’ve last worked together. I’m also grateful to Mark for lending his presence in this comedy and we hope to bring new surprises to the audience after Number 1. This is my first time working with Xiang Yun Jie, I’m very
honoured to have a Singaporean icon like her in this movie.”

Budgeted at S$1.5 million, filming for Reunion Dinner is scheduled to commence in July 2021 and slated for release in Lunar New Year 2022. The movie is presented by Clover Films and iQIYI, in association with King Kong Media Production, with production support from Akanga Film Asia, and co-distributed by Clover Films and Golden Village Pictures in Singapore, and iQIYI in China.
