Singapore International Film Festival’s annual Silver Screen Ball saw international and local film stars, filmmaking talents, and regional arts patrons, all of whom helped to raise funds for the Festival, gracing the red carpet affair on Saturday, 1 December 2018. The night saw an auction of seven items, which included a bespoke gown from The Ong Shunmugam Custom, a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience with SGIFF Juries including Stanley Kwan and Daniel Dae Kim, and a selection of six elegant pieces from Atelier Swarovski.

SGIFF is a non-profit IPC-registered charity committed to nurture and groom creative talents in the art of filmmaking. The proceeds from the fundraiser support SGIFF educational and development programmes that include Southeast Asian Film Lab, Southeast Asian Producer’s Network, Youth Jury & Critics Programme and writing initiatives, Masterclasses, Talks and Forums, Meet-the-filmmakers sessions, and New Waves Programme. As the leading international film platform in the region, the 29th SGIFF showcases a diverse selection of coveted films from Asia and beyond; demonstrating the ascending future of Asian cinema, with SGIFF continuing to lead the charge for Asian filmmakers emerging onto the global stage.

Over the last four years, the Silver Screen Ball has had the honour of hosting over 200 filmmakers and special guests including Oscar-winning actress, Juliette Binoche, Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, Dev Patel, football icon David Beckham, as well as prominent filmmakers Terence Chang, Christopher Doyle, Tran Anh Hung, and many more. This year, the Silver Screen Ball is privileged to have Chef Colin Buchan, one-time private chef to David and Victoria Beckham, and established chef in several Michelin-starred kitchens, to prepare a unique culinary experience specially for the occasion.

SGIFF is an event of the Singapore Media Festival (SMF), hosted by Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA). This year, SGIFF is hosted from 28 November to 9 December 2018 across various venues, including Capitol Theatre, National Museum of Singapore, National Gallery Singapore, The Cathay, Filmgarde Bugis+, Objectifs and *SCAPE. SGIFF 2018’s Official Sponsors include Official Red Carpet Venue Capitol Theatre; Official Hotels Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford Singapore; Official Automobile BMW; and Official Airline Singapore Airlines.
