The Weinstein Company has chosen ScreenSingapore to showcase THE BULLY PROJECT on 11 June 2011, the penultimate day of the inaugural ScreenSingapore. This makes Singapore the first territory outside of the United States to screen the film. The film is a highly acclaimed documentary feature that makes an insightful and moving examination of bullying and its long term impact. The groundbreaking and poignant film hopes to serve as a call to action against the abuse of students by their peers.

“The Bully Project is a film that is close to all of our hearts, highlighting an issue of global relevance.  Having it seen by the widest and broadest possible audience has been our priority from the start,” shared Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairman, The Weinstein Company.  “We are very Page 2 of 3 grateful to our friends at ScreenSingapore for giving us the opportunity to showcase the film at their inaugural event.”

The documentary, which follows five kids and families in America over the course of a school year, offers insight into the cruel and painful world of the bullied children. Stories include two families who have lost children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. The Bully Project examines the consequences of bullying through the testimony of strong and courageous youth and through the power of their stories, the film aims to change the way the society deals with bullying.
