He has directed feature films such as Eating Air, The Maid as well as the upcoming Hollywood-financed horror film The Faith of Anna Waters. But local director Kelvin Tong baulked when fellow Singaporean filmmaker Royston Tan approached him to shoot a short film as part of the upcoming film anthology 7 Letters, to celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee.

“When Royston first approached me, I was very doubtful. Number one, I haven’t shot a short film for many, many years. And two, I did horror films. But I agreed to it anyway. The other filmmakers involved in 7 Letters are Royston Tan, Tan Pin Pin, Jack Neo, Boo Junfeng, Eric Khoo and K Rajagopal.
