Starring Michelle Yeoh as Aung San Suu Kyi, ‘THE LADY’ tells the story of the Burmese democracy leader’s peaceful quest for her country’s freedom from military rule. It also tells the extraordinary love story between her and her husband, Michael Aris (played by David Thewlis). Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, their love endures until the very end. This is a story of devotion and human understanding set against a backdrop of political turmoil that continues today.
Directed by acclaimed French director Luc Besson, ‘THE LADY’ opens in cinemas on 1 March 2012.
