“The Sorcerer and the White Snake” brings the old Chinese fable Madam White Snake to the big screen once more.

The film tells the story of Bai Su Zhen (Eva Huang), a thousand-year-old white serpent demon who wants to attain immortality.

But she falls in love with Xu Xian (Raymond Lam), a herbalist after a chance encounter in the mountains, and decides to transform herself into a beautiful woman, to live among men as his wife instead.

Despite the objections of her sidekick Xiao Qing (Charlene Choi), a green snake demon hundreds of years old, the pair marry and start living together.

The trouble starts when the powerful Abbot Fa Hai (Jet Li) finds out about Bai’s true identity and vows to uphold the law of nature ““ that humans and demons cannot be together – bringing him into a collision course with Bai, who is determined to stay with her beloved.
