Hot stars for ScreenSingapore
THE upcoming, inaugural ScreenSingapore 2011, touted to be the Cannes of Asia, will see hot stars from Hollywood, Bollywood and Europe visiting Singapore to promote their films.
The good news for celebrity-watchers is that these A-listers are set to appear at various exclusive premieres and red carpet events during ScreenSingapore’s run, from June 5 to 12.
Japanese actress Aya Omasa, for instance, will be at The Cathay next Monday to promote the premiere of her latest film, Paradise Kiss, about a high-school student thrust into the fashion industry.
And Hong Kong actor Nick Cheung and director Wong Jing will be pulling for their new film, Treasure Inn, a comedy about two inspectors investigating a murder, at Cathay Cineleisure next Tuesday.
Perhaps the biggest star visiting is Tom Hanks, who will be premiering his latest movie, Larry Crowne, which also stars Julia Roberts. The movie follows the story of a man (Hanks) who develops a crush on his professor (Roberts) after he enrols in a community college to find new meaning in his life.
Hanks, who directed and co-produced the movie, and penned the script, will be seen at Shaw Lido on June 11, at the film’s Asia-Pacific premiere.
