Time traveling now banned in Chinese media

Time travel is not allowed in Chinese television and cinemas anymore. The General Bureau of Radio, Film and Television in China announced that time travel stories are no longer allowed as such stories are “disrespectful to history.”

The move comes amid the popularity of the theme in Chinese films and television today.

Most of these time-travel dramas are based on real history, though with added creative differences. And while viewers are enamored of time traveling in plots, the Chinese authority wasn’t amused.

The committee has been quoted by QQ, via Chinahush.com, as saying, “The time-travel drama is becoming a hot theme for TV and films. But its content and the exaggerated performance style are questionable.”
