Government to Apply Single Tax on Imported Films

Amid uncertainty on the fate of foreign films in Indonesia, the government says a single tax will be applied to imported movies.

“The economic minister and I have agreed to apply a single tax method, but this decision needs to be reported to the president first as all tax issues are under his authority,” said Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik on Tuesday.

Jero said that a single tax meant that the importer would only pay one tax at the customs office that would be valid forever.

“There will be no more tax at the end or in the middle,” he said.
