SHE shot to fame as TV character Phua Chu Kang’s lovable wife Rosie, but for actress Irene Ang, it is new local movie Perfect Rivals that has given her the highest number of ‘firsts’ in her 15 years in showbiz.

The bubbly 42-year-old local actress-comedienne, who is also the founder and CEO of artiste management company FlyEntertainment, plays the lead role in the heartwarming comedy about two family-owned bak kwa (barbecued meat) shops entangled in a long-standing feud.

Not only does it mark Ang’s debut outing in a Chinese-language picture, Perfect Rivals – released under A.I. Pictures, Fly Entertainment’s new movie subsidiary – is also her first project as an executive producer.
