”Moner Manush” gets commercial success1 min read

After having bagged the coveted Golden Peacock trophy at the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goutam Ghosh”s ”Moner Manush” has earned commercial success.

“Many had thought that the film is for a niche audience, so it was put up only in limited theatres in the first week. And now in the third week, many have been compelled to bring it to other halls owing to popular demand,” Bengali superstar Prosenjit, who played the protagonist in the film, told reporters here today.

The IFFI award was a big award for us but the biggest award is the box-office success. This has really excited us as it is being watched by a cross-section of the people,” Ghosh said here at a CII programme to felicitate the team of ”Moner Manush”.

Lamenting that Bengali films don”t get a global release, the critically-acclaimed director said the success of his film should encourage others to go for co-productions with other nations.
