Nobody is early winner at China BO1 min read

Kevin Chu’s costume comedy Just Call Me Nobody made RMB60.9 million over the three-day weekend in China, keeping Chen Kaige’s Sacrifice off the top of the charts.

Chen’s historical drama, which opened one day after Nobody, made RMB49.6 million with 1.4 million admissions on Saturday and Sunday.

The latest Harry Potter and Resident Evil films dropped to third and fourth places. Just Call Me Nobody is reported to be making the majority of its box office in northern China where the comedy troupe of its stars Zhao Benshan and Xiao Shengyang has its most dedicated audience.

Nobody stars Xiao as a cobbler who learns martial arts from Jacky Wu’s hermit. Zhao, also the major financier of the film, stars as a bandit who is also skilled in martial arts.
