Shaolin kicked into 2011

Benny Chan’s martial arts film Shaolin has had its China release date postponed to 19 Jan 2011.

The move was expected as it would otherwise have competed head-to-head with co-producer Huayi Brothers’ If You are the One 2.

Shaolin’s A-list cast includes Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse, Fan Bingbing, Wu Jing and Jackie Chan. It is the first film in 28 years officially endorsed by the Shaolin monastery.

Shaolin will still face tough competition in January, a month that is expected to see the China release of high-profile foreign blockbusters including Tron: Legacy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
