Taiwan documentary proposal wins co-production grant

“Double Happiness Limited”, a documentary on the uniqueness of the bridal photography business in Taiwan and mainland China was named winner of a co-production competition in Taipei Nov. 1

Initiative by Taiwan-based director Shen Ko-shang, it beat out more than 100 other proposals at the first CNEX Chinese Documentary Forum.

Shen’s “Baseball Boys,” a documentary about a school baseball team on Taiwan’s east coast, was named Best Documentary at the 2009 Asia Pacific Film Festival.

“By introducing this new form of sponsorship, we are trying to create better opportunities for Chinese-language documentary makers, and help them learn the skills needed to secure financing and co-production deals internationally,” said Ben Tsiang, CEO of CNEX.
