Movie lovers from across the nation converge on Wichita this weekend for the 8th annual Tallgrass Film Festival.

Festival director Lela Meadows-Conner said that the festival has remained true to its roots — bringing in lesser-known films.

She compared it to 2010. “It’s amazing that at 9 am, the theaters are packed with people.” She said the festival has remained true to its roots — bringing in lesser-known films.

In a way, the festival showcases the movie. In another, it showcases the city. “And they were like, ‘you’ve never heard of the Tallgrass Film Festival?'” said HP Mendoza, who is in Wichita to show his Fruitfly movie.
