Rota scholarship pupils’ film wins art fest prize

Two Indonesian students attending school supported by Reach Out To Asia (Rota) scholarships have won first prize at the Art Festival for Vocational School Students in Central Java.

The scholarship fund provides financial aid to students entering high school in Bayat covering their tuition fees for three years.

Yanthi Ambar and Krisnawati only began attending the photography classes run by Rota and its partner in Indonesia, the Titian Foundation, in 2008.

The talented pair’s seven-minute documentary – titled ‘Dibawah Naungan Merapi’ (Under the shelter of Merapi) – has won Yanthi and Krisnawati’s school entry into a national film competition.
