Locarno turns its back on Asian cinema

The Locarno (4 – 14 August) film festival has largely ignored Asian cinema in its 2010 edition, its first under a new programmer.

The line-up contains just two films from East Asia in its international competition (China’s Winter Vacation and Karamay) and two (Intolerance Now from Japan and The Fourth Portrait ???? from Taiwan) in its second tier ‘film-makers of the present’ sidebar.
