Ngee Ann Polytechnic Diploma in Film Sound and Video
The first filmmaking course to be established in Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Diploma in Film Sound and Video (FSV) has produced graduates whom have made their mark in the film industry such as Anthony Chen, who won a Special Mention Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Students are given a good grounding in the basics, learning about Storytelling Techniques in the first year followed by Camera-work, Production-work and Film History in their second year. In their final year, students can choose from the different aspects of film such as Cinematography and Post Production work.

Duration: 3 years full-time

Temasek Design School Diploma in Moving Images
Temasek Polytechnic’s Diploma in Moving Images’ students are among the first in the region to work on HD (high definition) equipment and some of the best equipment in the industry. Similar to Ngee Ann’s FSV, students will get to learn the basics of filmmaking in the first two years and from there select modules of interest in their final year.

Duration: 3 years full-time

Republic Polytechnic Diploma in New Media
The newest of the four, Republic Polytechnic’s New Media course has a heavier focus on the use of technology in film hence its name.  Students will be taught how to harness the capabilities of technology to maximise their creativity. Graduates will be able to work in other fields apart from film thereafter.

Lasalle Diploma in Film
The Lasalle Diploma in Film is a two year course which focuses solely on film. Students will have modules such as Screenwriting, Directing & Producing, the History of Film and Classical Narrative Cinema, Cinematography, Sound and Postproduction to name a few in the first two years. Thereafter, students will have graduated with a Diploma and get to choose to move on to get a Bachelor Degree where they will have to do a Final project and choose where to specialise within film.

Duration: 2-3 years full-time

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts: Diploma in Design & Media
NAFA’s Diploma in Design & Media allows you to focus the last two years of your tertiary education into film and video production, with emphasis on subjects such as Film & Camera Techniques, Experimental Film & Video, Screenplay & Storyboarding, Video Editing, Sound Design and more. Students who have completed the diploma programme can opt to enroll in a relevant degree programme conducted by NAFA in collaboration with overseas partner universities.

Duration: 3 years full-time

SAE Institute: Diploma in Digital Film Production
SAE has been training their students in HD productions since last year, and aims to arm its students with the ability to produce short movies, music videos, documentaries and advertisements. Throughout the course students complete several projects with professional equipment provided by SAE Institute and leave with a strong portfolio.

Duration: 12-months full-time
