The blondest moment I had in NUS was when I rushed to the library before it closed after a casting, only to find I carried no stationary on me. I spent an hour taking down notes and reference numbers using an unsharpened eye line pencil.

It’s not an option, in real life anyway: What splendour it might offer comes mostly in just so many shades of grey (and the palette so limited), you need a break from time to time.

Amongst the 14 feature-length films and the four shorts screened at the first ever Singapore Panorama section at Sinema Old School during SIFF, there was one documentary about the lives and times of lesbians in Singapore. The film is Women Who Love Women: Conversations in Singapore by Lim Mayling.

Eric Khoo’s latest feature, My Magic, is selected for the official Cannes Film Festival competition. It will make its debut at the prestigious film festival and be up in the running with nineteen other features for the Palme d’Or.

First there is the pitched anticipation that comes in the wake of a titillatingly good concept. Then, you’ll find yourself rather cooled off by the lukewarm result, and only later, maybe, will you discover one, then another little opening to the possibility of at least a partial reconciliation.
