Kenneth Tan, managing director of cinema chain Golden Village, will be leaving the company this Friday, reports The Straits Times. His departure comes after the settlement of the long-running dispute between GV’s co-owners Australia’s Village Roadshow and Hong Kong’s Golden Harvest Group.

David Glass, MD of Village Roadshow, will take over in the interim while the company launches a search for a successor.

Meanwhile, Tan will go on to set up his own company, Bridge Builders, a management consultancy and training firm that also deals in communications and marketing. The outgoing MD explains that he had been considering setting up his own business, but could not leave earlier due to the ongoing court case.

Tan was central to a lawsuit between Roadshow and Harvest filed in 2005, and is well-known in the industry to be supportive of home-grown fair, offering movies like Gone Shopping and Truth Be Told space alongside Hollywood blockbusters.
