2008 brings with it new resolutions, a fresh new to-do list, and for the lucky ones, a stack of cash from the yearly bonuses. With your newly fattened wallet, why not add some film related to-dos to your resolution with the upcoming film festivals?

pic.jpg1. Substation’s First Take

A monthly film showcase presented by The Substation Moving Images, First Take occurs on the first Monday of the month and is widely regarded as the choice venue for screening new films. Filmmakers also get the chance to interact with the audiences with the Q&A that follow.

Submission deadline: At least 8 weeks before intended screening date.
Open to: Singaporeans or filmmakers based in Singapore.
All films are either to be in English, or properly subtitled in English.

2. The 21st Singapore International Film Festival

The annual Singapore International Film Festival is back! Taking place in April from the 4th to the 14th, the SIFF will be taking in entries right up till 15 January 2008.

All entries must be created after January 2007 and must be a World Premiere — meaning, it cannot be broadcasted or screened in Singapore before, nor can it be part of any festivals, local or worldwide.

3. The Wildlife Asian Film Festival 2008

The Wildlife Asian Film Festival is an international-scaled wildlife, conservation and environmental film festival open to all filmmakers. The festival accepts entries from all over the world, and will continue to take in entries up till 31st January 2008.

Entries should feature wildlife, the natural world, the environment and/or man’s relationship with nature. Wildlife Asia encourages films with an Asian perspective – films shot in Asia, by Asian filmmakers, and with relevance to an Asian audience.

Films will be judged on 1 February 2008, and the final judging will take place in April 2008. For more information, visit the official website.
