Besides A Hero’s Journey, the only other Singapore film nominated in the Asian Festival of 1st Films is Becoming Royston. This is a coming-of-age tale about the son of a prawn farmer in an island village who finds his dreams — and love? — only when he leaves home for the mainland.

Becoming RoystonSome of this film has been seen in parts on the official website earlier this year, with selected screenings of a a 30-minute work-in-progress version a few months ago. The version screening at the festival is the 80-minute feature film that finally tells the story in full.
