Take this Waltz tops Vancouver Film Festival’s dance card1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteTake This Waltz, the Toronto-set second feature from actor-turned director Sarah Polley, will open the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Canadian Images program this year as the 16-day event rolls out at month’s end.
Polley also wrote the new movie, a comic drama starring Michelle Williams, Sarah Silverman and Seth Rogen, which screens Sept. 30 at the Vogue Theatre.
“It’s set in the oppressive heat of a Toronto summer – let’s linger over those words,” joked Canadian Images programmer Terry McEvoy. Polley was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for her directing debut, 2006’s Away From Her.
VIFF announced details of its 80-film Canadian program yesterday. The festival, which screens a total of 360 films from around the world, closes Oct. 14 with The Kid With a Bike, the latest film from Belgium’s writing/directing Dardenne brothers.
