CREATIVE agency Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia were big winners at the recent Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, but awards aren’t everything, says group executive creative director Gavin Simpson.
“Awards aren’t everything. If they were, I would have quit early in my career when my awards were few and far in between. What comes first is the passion for breakthrough work. At Ogilvy, we have this ingrained in the way we think and the way we behave for every account we work on,” he tells StarBizWeek.
However, Gavin admits that he doesn’t mind the recognition that comes with winning awards, especially at a prestigious event such as the Cannes Lions.
“It’s great that work from Ogilvy is regarded and recognised as among the best in the world. It’s quite encouraging. It motivates local creative players to strive for greater ideas and believe that it is possible to do world-class work.
