Singaporean production and distribution entity Homerun Asia (家樂電影) is collaborating with Chinese media firm Zonbo Media (北京中博世紀影視傳媒有限公司) on a slate of films, the two companies said at ScreenSingapore on Tuesday.

Homerun and Zonbo will invest RMB400-500 million ($61.7-77 million) over the next three years on a slate of five “commercial Asian films”, said Chen Weiming (陳偉明), chairman of Zonbo Media.

Films include a Chinese remake of Dangerous Liaisons, and 1965, a historical epic based on the events leading up to Singapore’s independence.

Dangerous Liaisons will be directed by Korean film-maker Hur Jin-ho (허진호) on an announced budget of US$15 million. The film starts production in September.

The $5 million 1965 will be directed by Singapore-based Malaysian director Lee Thean Jeen (李天仁), with superstar director Peter Chan (陳可辛) attached as supervisory director. The film is scheduled to begin shooting by year-end.
