ScreenSingapore garners support from global film community4 min read

The Board of ScreenSingapore (BOSS) has announced the initial tranche of high profile names from across the global film community who have officially confirmed their support for the inaugural 2011 event by becoming ScreenSingapore Ambassadors.

Among the highly influential executives and artists from the international film community who have already agreed (as at March 21st 2011) to lend their support for ScreenSingapore are:

* Wayne Wang (Director of The Joy Luck Club, Maid in Manhattan and Smoke)
* Oliver Stone (Director of Platoon, Wall Street, JFK)
* Harold Shaw (Managing Director of Shaw Organisation)
* Kishore Lulla (Chairman and CEO of Eros International)
* Albert Lee (CEO of Emperor Motion Pictures)
* Paul Hanneman (Co-President of 20th Century Fox International)
* Sanjeev Lamba (CEO of Reliance BIG Pictures)

The list of 52 ambassadors emphasises the incredibly positive response that the organisers of this brand new, multi-million dollar budget event have received from across the world. These highly respected industry leaders will provide valuable support and help to promote ScreenSingapore and its activities around the world.

Commenting on his new appointment Wayne Wang, acclaimed movie director, said, “ScreenSingapore will no doubt prove to be a truly international event, a platform where both Asian and Western cinema will flourish together, promoting cross-cultural working relationships and helping bring international projects to an even wider audience. It is an honour to be involved with such an exciting project.”

Samuel Hadida, President of Metropolitan Films, added, “The Asia-Pacific region is a vast area of potential growth for the global film industry. ScreenSingapore will undoubtedly prove to be pivotal in the film community reaching this potential audience of billions of people.”

Victor Loewy, CEO of Alliance Films, commented, “It is exciting to be involved in such an ambitious and forward thinking event. It is clear ScreenSingapore will be a unique film event in a busy calendar and certainly one that will stand out and attract leading film stars, exhibitors and buyers for many years to come. It is an honour to be involved in the early stages of an event that in the coming years the entire film industry will look to be involved in.”

Said another of ScreenSingapore ambassadors, William Pfeiffer, CEO of Tiger Gate Entertainment Ltd, “Singapore is Asia’s burgeoning media hub, and ScreenSingapore will surely be one of the world’s premier platforms for films, filmmakers, and film technology.”

Commenting on the announcement, Greg Coote, Chairman of Latitude Entertainment, and the Chairman of the Board of ScreenSingapore said, “We are extremely honoured to have the formal support of renowned film professionals and filmmakers, all of whom have been instrumental in developing the film industry around the world. To be held from 5 to 12 June 2011, ScreenSingapore, the first international cinema event in Singapore, aims to bring together movie stars, renowned directors and eminent film industry professionals to exchange ideas, business opportunities and showcase film products. Leveraging on the growing interest in Asian content, the very strong theatrical marketplace and Singapore’s position as a globally connected regional gateway, ScreenSingapore is set to reinforce Singapore as the global media capital of the region.

The Board of ScreenSingapore consists of Chairman of Latitude Entertainment, Greg Coote, who is serving as the Chairman of the Board, Golden Globe-winning Director, Shekhar Kapur, Ashok Amitraj, Chairman & CEO of Hyde Park, Michael J. Werner, Chairman of Fortissimo Films, Wayne Duband of Wayne Duband Consulting, DDA Public Relations Founder and DDA Consulting Chairman Dennis Davidson, Aubeck Kam, CEO of MDA, Cassandra Tay, Director of Communications of MDA and Dr Christopher Chia, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA).
