‘Sanctum’ bow delayed in Japan1 min read

The biz in Japan is still coping with the after-effects of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and subsequent nuclear reactor catastrophe.

Distrib Toho-Towa is pushing back its April 22 bow of the James Cameron-produced adventure thriller “Sanctum” and has yet to set a new date. Pic contains scenes of a cyclone hitting a South Pacific island and water rushing through a cave that might upset local auds.

Other films with unsuitable content have also had their release dates scratched, including Sony’s “Battle: Los Angeles” (known here as “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles”), which was to open April 1, and nuclear arms race documentary “Countdown to Zero,” set to bow on April 16.

The magnitude 9.0 temblor has also hit local production. Toei’s kiddy action pic “Gokaiger goseiger super sentai 199 hero daikessen” will not be finished in time for its May 21 bow.
