Pakistan’s first 3D cinema gets a full house despite strike1 min read

On the last day of the year 2010, citizens of Karachi were given something to cheer about as the first 3D cinema in the country opened its door to the public despite a strike call given by religious parties.

The management was apprehensive about the turnout but decided to keep their promise of opening the cinema for public.

Although Indian film Tees Maar Khan became the first movie to be shown at Atrium Cinema and was clearly the one which cine-goers wanted to watch, some viewers did not appreciate that. Farhad Asjad was of the opinion that if Atrium Cinema was marketing itself as a 3D cinema, it should focus on this niche.

“There are already too many cinemas in Karachi which show Indian movies. Cineplex has five screens out of which four show Indian films,” he opined.
