Tsai is Pusan’s Filmmaker of the Year1 min read

Tsai Ming-liang was today named as the recipient of the Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award which will be presented during the Pusan festival next month, 7 – 15 October.

“His 30-year long devotion to filmmaking has greatly influenced Asian Cinema and made considerable contributions to enhance the global status of Asian Cinema,” said the festival in a statement announcing the award.

Tsai was born in Malaysia, but has worked extensively in Taiwan and is one of the most eminent figures among the “˜Second New Wave’ of Taiwanese directors.
