The next Singapore International Film Festival will be holding a festival fundraiser early next month as a celebration of the local film community, and aims to raise a total of $10,000 from the event.

siff.jpgThree films will be screened at the National Museum at 7:30pm on 3, 4 and 6 December for this fundraiser. The films are:

15 by Royston Tan (R21) — Dec 3 [Monday] Opera Jawa by Garin Nugroho (M18) — Dec 4 [Tuesday] Be With Me by Eric Khoo (M18) — Dec 6 [Thursday]

Tickets are priced at $15 per piece, and are available from The National Museum. Online reservations can also be made via their website at: www.nationalmuseum.sg.

Also on sale are premium tickets [$100 each], which come specially packaged together with selected items from the filmmakers, including autographed movie posters, books, autographed soundtracks and personal film souvenirs from the directors. Premium tickets are sold directly through the festival office, via email or telephone 67387567.

The three films were picked by festival director Philip Cheah, who in a local report said that the works of Nugroho, Tan and Khoo were picked because the SIFF nurtured these directors in their early filmmaking days. The annual Silver Screen segment was a platform for Tan and Khoo, and SIFF was one of the first film festivals to showcase works from Indonesian New Wave director Nugroho. SIFF is now in its 21st year.
