Sinema Media is a consultancy and project management company focusing on film and media initiatives.
Core Missions
- Promote and advocate for the creation and consumption of Singaporean stories both locally and internationally
- Spotlight and develop filmmaking talents
- Encourage cross-cultural awareness and understanding through the medium of film
Milestones
2006: Started as a blog, Sinema.SG, to collate information and news on SG independent filmmaking.
2007: Opened the first independent community theatre in Singapore, Sinema Old School, to showcase local independent films. Closed in 2012 for good.
2011: Created biannual short film competition ciNE65 for NEXUS.
2013: Took over the 48 Hour Film Project SG in 2013 and ran it till 2017.
2014: Produced four short films adapted from local literature for Singapore Writers Festival’s Utter.
2015: Created the National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) together with *SCAPE’s new “Media Pillar” for industry development; ran it for four editions until 2018.
2016: Produced One Hour To Daylight, a feature film adapted from local literature, for Singapore Writers Festival’s Utter.
2018: Ran Utter Redux for Singapore Writers Festival, a retrospective of the past Utter editions through the years.
2018: Brought first batch of selected NYFA winners to Taiwan for the inaugural collaboration with the Golden Harvest Awards.
2019: Brought the second batch of selected NYFA winners to the Golden Harvest Awards. Held the first Golden Harvest Awards Singapore Showcase, bringing Taiwanese short films to Singapore.
