drive_like_maria_Prisma

Prisma’s migration to video was inevitable. Pretty much anything you can do to a still image you will eventually be able to do to a video image; it’s just a question of how long it’ll take for software and hardware to catch up. Or, if you are the band Drive Like Maria, you can decide not to wait and to push your music video through an app only designed for still image processing. Prisma, if you haven’t heard of it, has been getting a lot of attention lately, and it might be behind some of the images you’ve seen on …

It seems that this week started with a few exciting new announcements that are getting a lot of traction already while crawling the Internet swiftly. After we did a quick write-up on the latest Walkera’s Superzoom Camera Drone Voyager 4 and Cinemartin’s TEODORED Recorder/Monitor just yesterday, now it’s time to take a quick look at the brand new Titan X graphics card unveiled by Nvidia. According to the manufacturer, this groundbreaking piece of technology gives users “the power to accomplish things they never thought possible”. Seagate Barracuda Pro 10TB

Are you running out of space storing all the 4K and beyond 4K footage that you’ve captured? Seagate has heard you and Tuesday morning introduced the world’s largest capacity consumer hard drive for desktop users. The 10TB Barracuda Pro doesn’t play just the capacity card though. Seagate also aimed to make it a high-performance hard drive, fitting it with a massive 256MB of cache. The drive also spins along at 7,200rpm rather than the typical, lower-cost 5,400rpm large drives. Of course, “performance hard drive” may sound like an oxymoron in this age of SSDs that can easily hit 1.5GBps read …

Users will be offered four video recording options: Flat Mode, Sphere Mode, Planet Mode, and VR Mode. Spherical panoramas will be …
Christie HDR

None more black. The last time Rakesh Malik saw blacks as deep as in a Christie projection demo he saw at NAB was when he was deep underground in a cave system in West Virginia. I went on a caving trip in West Virginia some time ago. We scrambled in about a hundred yards or so, then rappelled down a 50-foot section, and another hundred yards or so and around a bend. In the deepest part of the cave, our guide had us turn off all of our head lamps. He talked for a few minutes while our eyes adjusted, …
Screenx

China these days is in love with all things culturally Korean, from TV shows to boy bands. Hoping to expand that trend is the cinema technology arm of Korean exhibition firm CJ-CGV, itself a sister company of the powerhouse producer and distributor CJ Entertainment. Having previously launched 4DX, a successful reinvention of the moving seats and environmental effects concept, CJ-CGV is now doing business with ScreenX immersive technology. Next week it will take the kit to the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas for the second time. There it will be targeting not just North American theatres, but Chinese exhibitors in …
