This September, Method Productions is putting together the Singapore Monologue Slam, the very first monologue competition in Singapore.

This is a nation-wide casting call for young people with a passion for creative expression. The contestants, between ages 13-35, will perform a speech of their choice in front of a live audience, and leading professionals from theatre and film. All participants will also receive a monologue masterclass to help them prepare for the competition, as well as a free t-shirt. No prior acting experience is needed to take part.

In place are some very attractive prizes for winners, including the chance to perform at the Singapore Writers Festival and Young Writers Festival. Winners will have their monologues turned into a short film, and they will receive a scholarship to study at Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity. They have also included a Best Original Monologue prize for all those who are into writing.

There is an also event called SMS Hangout Replay on the 23 July at the HCAC Studio if anyone needs personalised help with monologue selection.
