Movie Makers Short Film Competition (我要当导演) is a competition organised by MM2 Entertainment, Cathay Organisation and Fox Networks Group (FNG) that aims to develop the film industry by providing a platform for new filmmakers to showcase their talents through directing a short film. One of the winners will even be given the opportunity to develop and produce a feature film with mm2 entertainment.

The panel for the competition comprises of acclaimed film practitioners across different countries: Singaporean directors Jack Neo (Ah Boys to Men series) and Eric Khoo (My Magic), Malaysian director Ho Yuhang (Min), Taiwanese producer Yeh Junfeng (Red Cliff) and Hong Kong award-winning director producer Fruit Chan Kuo (Made In Hong Kong).

An attractive bundle of cash prizes as well as Canon EOS products will be awarded to the top 3 films. The winning films will also be broadcasted on FNG’s premium Chinese movie channel, SCM.

This competition is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who are above 18 years of age as of 9 June 2016. They also must not have directed a full-length feature film. Submissions start on 9 June 2016, Thursday and ends on 19 September 2016, Monday.

Each short film entry must be solely produced for Movie Makers Short Film Competition (我要当导演), and the film duration must be under 10 minutes. 20 Films will be shortlisted by the Organisers and thereafter, 10 Films will be selected by the panel of Jury (“the Jury”) as finalists of the Competition. The Organisers will contact the finalists 2 weeks before the Awards Ceremony or earlier if the Film has been shortlisted.
