Now you have no excuse for shooting 8bit 4:2:0 with your mirrorless 4K camera or your Super 35 4K camcorder ““ Atomos just dropped the price on the Ninja Assassin 4K HDMI recorder by US$300 from US$1,295 to US$995 and also slashed US$500 off the price of their flagship Shogun 4K recorder, which is now US$1,495! Talk about a deal here ““ for the first time ever, there’s a 4K recorder for less than a grand. For those with Sony A7s II, or A7R II or any other HDMI based 4K camera ““ the Assassin is really a no-brainer, so if you’ve saved up until now for a 4K recorder, or just want to grab a 2nd one, now is probably the best time to do it. Sony FS5 owners can bump up their internal 8bit 420 UHD recordings to a crispy clean and robust 10bit 422 with either the Shogun or the Ninja Assassin.

For those looking to get SDI, Genlock and 4K RAW to ProRes conversion ““ as most FS7 and Sony FS700 owners do, the Atomos Shogun can give you all that. Plus of course a really nice 7-inch ISP touch screen with a host of other image control functions such as Peaking, Scopes, Frame Guides and 3D LUT support.
