A film about a cleaner who about reminisces the times she set out to achieve her dreams took top honours at the ciNE65 short film competition on Friday evening (Jun 12). The competition invites budding film-makers to tell their Singapore story.

The third run of the biennial competition also concluded with a record number of entries. Some 230 films from the public and 20 participating schools were received this time around, more than three times the entries in 2011.

“Unwavering”, featuring the cleaner, was directed by Lawrence Loh and won “Overall Best Film” in the Open Category, while a short monologue about a Singaporean chef, called “Home-made”, by director and editor Aloysius Lee won “Overall Best Film” in the Student Category.

Both teams walked away with the grand prize of an overseas learning trip to an international film festival, in addition to cash prizes and Panasonic cameras.
