US$2 million movie “The Blue Mansion” screens at Sinema Old School, and director Glen Goei will be present on both screenings for Q&A sessions.
The Blue Mansion is a quirky murder mystery about a wealthy Asian Tycoon who dies suddenly under mysterious circumstances and returns as a ghost to try to uncover the secret of his death.
Two eager detectives investigate the death chasing all leads and suspects, including the dead man’s three children. The ghost witnesses his own funeral wake, attended by jealous relatives and business competitors as well as the police investigation that unveils hidden family secrets.
Directed by Glen Goei, the director for Forever Fever, The Blue Mansion boasts a stellar cast and crew from Singapore and Malaysia. The cast includes Patrick Teoh, Louisa Chong, Lim Kay Siu, Adrian Pang, Neo Swee Lin, Emma Yong and Tan Kheng Hua.
The movie was made with an estimated budget of US$1 million and shot in Penang’s heritage building Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion which was built in the 19th century. The Blue Mansion was originally named “The Funeral Party”, and was inspired by Goei’s visit to a funeral where “All the relatives were busy gossiping and bitching about each other that they forgot the main purpose of being at the wake – to mourn the death of someone,” he shared in an interview with The Star Online
