‘Waste Land’ Wins Best Documentary at IDA Awards

Waste Land was named best feature documentary at the International Documentary Assn.’s 2010 IDA Award.

Walker’s documentary, which looks at a giant Rio de Janeiro trash dump through the eyes of artist Vik Muniz, also received the group’s Pare Lorentz Award, which was announced earlier this week.

Waste Land is also on the list of 15 documentaries that are being considered for an Academy Award in the feature documentary category.

Oscar Bucher’s Waiting for a Train: The Toshio Hirano Story was the recepeient of the David L. Wolper Student Documentary Award.
